What is a Learning Health System?
A Learning Health System (LHS) strives to integrate clinical care and research in order to improve patient care in real time. It achieves this by creating a framework for incorporating new evidence from research into clinical care on an ongoing basis, while allowing clinical experiences to spark new research questions and improve ongoing research efforts. This two-way relationship is key to the value of a LHS.
Input from patients and research participants helps us to both improve clinical care and design better, more impactful research. A commitment to Patient-Oriented Research is critical to the health of a LHS.
